👨💻 About the Role
We’re excited to welcome a Mechanical Process Engineer (CSP – Cases & Screen Protectors) to our growing China-based engineering team.
This role is central to the design and development of Mous phone cases, with a strong focus on structural performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
As an MPE (CSP), you will join the development of high-performance mechanical structures from concept through mass production. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams and external manufacturing partners to ensure products meet rigorous validation requirements, scale efficiently, and remain industry-leading.
This is a hands-on, technically demanding role suited to someone who enjoys solving complex engineering challenges in a fast-paced environment.
This position is fully on-site at our Dongguan office, Monday to Friday, 9:00am–6:30pm.
👋 About You
As an MPE at Mous, you’ll collaborate closely with the New Product Development, Engineering, Quality, and Production teams, reporting directly to Colin, our Lead MPE.
You are proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable owning technical challenges end to end. You thrive in an execution-focused and fast-paced environment and play a key role in driving projects to completion with precision, speed, and quality.
🔑Key Responsibilities:
1. NPI Strategy & Design Optimisation
Collaborate with the New Product Development (NPD) team and participate in DFMA (Design for Manufacturing and Assembly) reviews, learning how to optimize product designs for durability, manufacturability, cost, and high-volume production.
Apply basic knowledge of materials, mechanical processes, tooling, and CMF (Color, Material, Finish) to support the development of feasible engineering solutions aligned with product requirements.
Provide technical assistance during the transition from design to execution, helping to balance aesthetic intent with manufacturing reality.
2. Technical Vendor & Project Governance
Support the management and audit of OEM/ODM and manufacturing suppliers, helping ensure their technical activities and process controls align with the product development roadmap under the guidance of senior team members.
Assist in guiding product development from conception to execution; help track timelines and milestones to support timely and complete delivery of products and engineering modifications.
Contribute to establishing acceptance criteria for manufacturing processes and materials based on industry best practices, helping ensure supplier output meets internal standards.
3. Validation, Testing & Tooling
Participate in developing comprehensive testing plans that simulate critical requirements and real-world usage scenarios to validate product performance and mechanical integrity.
Assist in designing and evaluating precision testing jigs and fixtures, helping to ensure validation processes are accurate, repeatable, and suitable for mass production environments.
4. Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement
Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on test failures and technical challenges; help implement corrective actions to resolve reliability issues related to materials, tooling, or processes.
Learn to identify potential manufacturing risks and technical bottlenecks early in the lifecycle; support the escalation of issues and assist in providing strategic solutions to ensure prompt resolution.
Contribute to ongoing product enhancements by helping analyze Customer Experience (CX) and Field Return (FR) data, supporting a culture of quality advancement and continuous improvement.
5. Cost Engineering & Value Realisation
Assist in performing detailed cost analysis for new and existing projects.
Help identify and implement cost-saving opportunities through material, tooling, or process optimisation while maintaining product integrity, under the guidance of senior engineers.
✔️How will success be measured?
Year-on-year reduction in average PI ratio
Net 180-day product PI ratio below 2.5%
Effective KPI implementation for lead time in resolving critical issues
Demonstrated year-on-year continuous improvement
