👨💻 About the Role
As Demand Planning Lead, you’ll own the Device Accessories category plan end to end — demand, supply and inventory health across cases, screen protectors, accessories and wireless chargers — and represent the category to the Senior Leadership Team. It’s Mous’s largest category by SKU count and stock value, and the one most exposed to device launch timing: every major iPhone, Pixel and Samsung launch is a live forecasting and ordering decision, made before any sales history exists.
Alongside the forecast, you’ll own the launch forecast and initial order quantity for each device launch, initial and weekly allocation across regions and channels (D2C web, Amazon, retail and Google), re-ordering for existing SKUs, and stock transfers across our hubs and warehouses. You’ll own the category’s inventory health, working with Commercial on pricing and discounting to clear excess and obsolete stock, and the category KPIs — Availability, Forecast Accuracy and E&O. It’s a genuinely cross-functional seat, working with Commercial, Marketplaces, Pricing, Product, Retail, Production, Procurement, Logistics, Data and the Senior Leadership Team across the UK, Pakistan and China. You’ll report to the S&OP Manager in China.
Please note that this role will be situated at our office in Dongguan, China, working on-site from Monday-Friday. The normal working hours will be 9am - 6:30pm CST.
👋 About You
You’re a good fit if you have experience in demand planning, category planning or S&OP for a fast-moving, high-SKU category, and you’ve owned a monthly cycle end to end rather than supported someone else’s. You’ve built launch forecasts with no sales history — downside, mid and upside — and set the order behind them. You’re fluent in Excel across large datasets (1,000+ SKUs, multiple warehouses and channels), you understand what MOQs, lead times, capacity and freight mode actually do to a plan, and you can put a number on the trade-off between availability and E&O — in units, cash and margin — in a way a senior audience will act on.
You hold a data-backed position when Commercial or leadership push for a more optimistic number, and you stay calm when launch week puts many live decisions on the table at once. You make the call and stand behind it, you’re organised and disciplined with files and versions, and you’re comfortable coaching someone who knows the work but needs support to make the call. You’ll be working across three countries and several stakeholder groups, so cultural awareness and collaboration matter here.
🔑Key Responsibilities:
New product demand planning — Own the forecast for launches tied to the device calendar (iPhone, Google Pixel, Samsung S-series and foldables). Build the initial forecast with explicit assumptions, set the initial order quantity (IOQ), and present downside / mid / upside scenarios with the cash exposure attached to each, taken through sign-off with Product, Commercial and the Senior Leadership Team.
Launch allocation and replenishment — Own the initial launch allocation, linked to production planning, then weekly allocation top-ups and Amazon restocks as the launch curve develops.
Launch performance tracking — Track performance by range, colour and channel, and turn it into re-order or no-re-order decisions.
Existing SKU forecasting — Own the monthly forecast update for existing SKUs, the quarterly correction against actuals, and the accessories and wireless charger forecast.
Re-ordering — Own re-ordering for existing SKUs, checked against supplier MOQs and taken through the order approval process.
Inventory health — Run the weekly overstock check and root cause analysis, and partner with Commercial on pricing and discounting reviews to clear excess and obsolete stock.
Stock movements — Own weekly allocations, hub-to-warehouse and Amazon transfers, and inter-warehouse transfers.
Retail planning — Coordinate retail NPD forecasts and IOQs, retail allocations and re-orders, and web vs. retail stock priority rules.
Category KPIs and S&OP — Own Availability, Forecast Accuracy (WAPE / bias) and E&O, and embed the monthly S&OP cycle for the category.
SKU portfolio productivity — Simplify the range, remove low-productivity lines and reduce low-MOQ complexity.
Cross-functional coordination — Work across Commercial, Marketplaces, Pricing, Product, Retail, Production, Procurement, Logistics, Data and the Senior Leadership Team.
Line management — Line manage, coach and develop one Demand Planner.
✔️How will success be measured?
Launch forecasts and IOQ recommendations leadership can sign off quickly, because the downside, mid and upside cases and the cash at risk are laid out clearly.
Availability protected through launch windows, without over-ordering into the drop-off that follows the launch spike.
Excess and obsolete stock trending down, with previous-generation ranges run down before the next device lands.
Forecast accuracy and bias improving for both launch and mature SKUs, with misses understood through root cause review rather than explained away.
A monthly S&OP cycle that runs to a reliable cadence and consistently produces decisions, not just discussion.
Allocations and transfers that put stock in the right region and channel first time, based on stock and in-transit data that has been checked.
A Demand Planner growing in confidence and making more of the calls independently.
🤓Skills requirements:
Bachelor's degree (Business, Economics, Supply Chain or similar).
5+ years in demand planning, category planning or S&OP for a fast-moving, high-SKU category, including proven ownership of a monthly cycle end to end.
New product launch forecasting tied to an external launch date — building scenario-based (downside / mid / upside) initial forecasts and IOQs before any sales history exists.
Advanced Excel capability — comfortable handling large datasets (1,000+ SKUs, multiple warehouses and channels), building models, and turning data into clear insight.
Able to quantify the trade-off between availability and E&O — in units, cash and margin (CM2 / CM3) — and present it to senior stakeholders for a decision.
Working understanding of production and supply constraints (MOQ, lead times, capacity, air vs. sea freight) and warehouse / 3PL / Amazon FBA stock flows.
Experience allocating and transferring stock across regions and channels (D2C web, Amazon, retail partners).
Fluent written and spoken English and Chinese — able to run meetings in English, handle English reporting, and work directly with UK HQ.
